Seismic Interpretation & Basin Analysis, Principles and Applications in Rift Basin

Overview

This course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of seismic interpretation. The course will cover geological information, magnetic and gravity information, well data, the development of a synthetic seismogram, and its utilisation in various interpretations.

Understanding the geological structure and evolution of rift basins is critical for successful hydrocarbon exploration and production. This training provides participants with the principles and practical techniques for seismic interpretation and basin analysis, focusing on rift basin settings.

The program covers seismic data acquisition, structural and stratigraphic interpretation, basin modeling, tectono-sedimentary processes, and the integration of seismic and well data to evaluate hydrocarbon potential. Participants will learn to identify key geological features, assess depositional environments, and apply basin analysis concepts to exploration and development projects.

• Determine a basin’s thermal history and its value on source maturity dynamics
• Identify and interpret the major structural features and characteristics of rift basins
• Understand the seismic processes, develop geologic models, create maps and interpret seismic sections
